Summary:

Since 2015, we have made it our mission to reduce the amount of fruit and vegetables that are thrown away. It started with a small club in early 2015, but we quickly realized that the potential is much greater and that one club is not enough. Unververted has been around since March 8, 2016 and is run by the siblings Cornelia and Andreas Diesenreiter from Schwendermarkt in Vienna, together with their wonderful team. The first jars were already sold in 2015, at that time still in the club. Since then we have been moving in big steps, always with our mission in mind. In 2015 it was only 500 jars, but in 2016 it was 5000 jars, then 35,000 and in recent years a steadily growing six-digit number of jars. We want to save around 100,000 kg again this season. We have already been offered over 10 million kilos of the best quality, which are thrown away for a variety of reasons: the fruit is too big, too small, ripe at the wrong time, doesn't have the right color or is just too much. It's not about looking for and lecturing the culprits in the complex construct of our world, but about enlightening and, above all, offering a good and sustainable solution. Sustainability as a pleasure. We also use all of the data to program an intelligent system that helps us to deal better with surpluses. According to the WWF, more than 167 million kilos of fruit and vegetables are lost in agriculture in Austria. This made it clear to us once again that we are only at the beginning of our journey with our vision. That's why we started looking for a strong cooperation partner so that we could save even more food together. We are very proud and happy that from now on HOFER will only be able to offer "Rettenworth" groceries for everyday needs. Together with HOFER, we focus on the beginning of the value chain, i.e. on the field, in farms, in sorting plants, in the warehouse, in logistics and in the processing companies and thus save food from the bin. The dream of us and our team is to find products with saved ingredients on every shelf - because there is food in many areas that needs to be saved and together with HOFER to make sustainable products affordable. The first products worth saving will be available from Friday, October 21st. 2022 in all HOFER branches throughout Austria. You can find more information at www.rettenswert.at
