Summary:
We propose an innovative application of vinegar as an innovative bio-sourced disinfecting product based on acetification of fruit juice co-products for seed treatment. The vinegar was developed and produced within the Swiss case study. The vinegar is applied to treat fungal disease on seeds before planting. The tested seeds included parsley, celery, and various carrot varieties. The goal of this innovation was to extend the known application of vinegar as seed treatment on wheat to vegetables, and contribute to replace actual treatments (phytosanitary products and steam).
