Systemic change management: a tool for a sustainable regional development of the berry industry

Country:
Sweden
Summary:

The innovation describes a holistic approach/working methodology focusing on creating local value and stakeholder-engaged business models through eco-friendly methods for transformative industry progress. This approach is unique in its context, since it has not been tested in the Berry chain nor for intermediate value chains in Northen Sweden.
The system demonstrator “Bär i Bygden" has significant potential for scaling and replication. Future steps include expanding the system demonstrator to cover additional regions under the same umbrella, allowing more local communities to benefit from similar approaches. The success of this framework can also inspire the replication of the model for other local food systems, extending its impact beyond wild berries to include other forest and agricultural resources. "Bär i Bygden" serves as a compelling example of sustainable regional economic development that balances environmental responsibility with local value creation.
